Dharamveer Shamburaje Anathalay is a Pune based orphanage for the children who are deprived of love and affection from their own families. Through our programme UDAAN-Nurturing Lives, we intended to give wings to these children to fly and to further escalate their power to fly, and so our directors got in touch with the organization for us to conduct a medical camp for the children.

 

We aim to target orphanages in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai who are deprived of medical health support. We intend to provide them with the basic health checkup and advice on how to live a healthy life through home remedies and/or referrals to government hospitals.

 

The orphanage was more than happy to have us with them and we have regular camps on quarterly basis. As usual, we recorded their anthropometric measures and carried out general examination, vision testing, and dental checkup.

 

Deworming tablets were given to all for dwindling stomach infections if any. Based on the clinical evaluation, children that required further medical attention were reported to the authorities.

 

Later in the day, we had counseling sessions which covered topics like hand hygiene, oral hygiene, water borne diseases, nutrition, menstrual hygiene and physiotherapy sessions with demonstration of important exercises and stretches, posture correction.

 

After the medical checkup and counselling, we distributed stationery hampers all wrapped with lots of love from our side.
