UDAAN–Nurturing Lives! (Swami Vivekanand Ashram) ), is a Pune based orphanage giving wings to fly to the children who are deprived of love and affection from their own families. To further escalate their power to fly, our directors got in touch with the organization for us to conduct a medical camp for the children. The camp was conducted at the Vivekanad Aashram, Thane on the 15th of October 2017.

We aim to target orphanages in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai who are deprived of medical health support. We intend to provide them with the basic health checkup and advice on how to live a healthy life through home remedies and/or referrals to government hospitals.

UDAAN was more than happy to have us with them and we have regular camps on monthly basis. About 40 boys were examined. As usual, we recorded their anthropometric measures and carried out general examination, vision testing, and dental checkup. Deworming tablets were given to all for dwindling stomach infections if any. Vitamin A and D supplements were provided.Based on the clinical evaluation, children that required further medical attention were referred to Thane Government hospital outpatient department.

Our volunteers were kind enough to contribute money based on the requirements of their needs. Towards the end of the day, we conducted various activities like singing, dancing etc. where we realized that some kids had great talent hidden inside them which if nurtured well could help them reach great heights.

At the end we distributed basic required items which included day to day medicines such as paracetamol, burnol ointments, pain relief sprays with lots of love from our side.
