Immunization is a highly cost effective way of improving child survival, yet immunization rates remain low in many developing countries and, every year an estimated 2-3 million people die from vaccine- preventable diseases. Hence, we believe that improving acess to vaccines via immunization camps would increase immunization rates.

The project SHIELD- Safety Healthy Ideal Effective Lifesaving Doses Immunis was held on at various places. Our directors approached the organization and offered them to provide with volunteers for helping them in their immunization camp.

 

On the day, our volunteers were divided where a few of them went to Public Health Nurse for one camp and the others remained in the centre with the technicians for the administration of vaccines.

Our budding health professionals got to observe the various techniques of delivering the vaccine and then themselves administered the vaccines on mastering the former. Alongside the vaccine administration, counseling sessions were conducted in an attempt to educate the people about immunization schedule, to explain the importance of vaccine and dengue awareness campaign was also included.
