Platelets are very much in demand for cancer patients on chemotherapy & almost none of the cancer organizations or NGOs have taken up the initiative of platelet donation.

This project was carried out to reduce the load of platelet recruitment for cancer patients on the occasion of World Cancer Day on the 4th February 2018 titled SAMARPAN- Platelet Donation Drive.   

The day started with a lecture and discussion on platelet donation and the details of the process.Then the volunteers were taken to the area of the sample collection, blood testing.

They were then registered with TATA for platelet donation to be called up as per requirement in the hospital. About 36 people volunteered for platelet donation.

We received an excellent feedback  from the volunteers as well as Tata Hospital. RCBU is also planning to conduct such platelet donation camps. Our parent rotary & District International Service team were very much impressed by the initiative.
