OPERATION RESTORE
Date: 18th August, 2017
We believe in holistic growth of every member of our club and provide them with opportunities helping them refine their thoughts for future careers and also staying updated with the recent advances made in the medical field.
This time we collaborated with the Rotary Club of Deonar, in their project ‘OPERATION RESTORE’ held at National Burns Centre, Airoli, Navi Mumbai where we approached them for providing voluntary help in emergency logistics. The project was in store for two days.

Our caduceans interacted with all the patients who had their surgeries scheduled for the day. They got to observe 7 surgeries on the first day and 6 surgeries on the next day. Our senior members even got a chance to assist the surgeons with the surgeries. An interactive session was conducted by Dr. Sunil Keswani his team of expert surgeons, where the ABC of burns were explained including its physiology, surgical approach etc.
Our caduceans also visited the skin bank and were made aware about the ongoing research programs. Besides, they visited the Physiotherapy Room, to see the splints and casts made for the burns patients, and were summarized about their rehabilitative program. Lastly , they had a look into the butterfly room used as one the therapies for the patients.

Burn deformities were operated by a team of expert doctors coming from all over India. Our members got a clearer idea on how operations are conducted in a professional setup. They also had an opportunity to learn the varied ways of counseling and taking care of the burn deformities. Also with lectures, guidance, and other recreational activities, they understood many modern methods to approach the condition which will help them in their future career as doctors.

We had an amazing response from our fellow caduceans who are keen on such projects in the future.
