C.A.R.E (Compassion And Respect for the Elderly)

Date: 21st October, 2017

‘ Caring for our elderly should be the greatest responsility  we have. Those who walked before have given so much and made possible the life we all enjoy,

-John Hoeven

Our directors and the AYM (Andrean Youth Movement) collaborated to conduct this camp for the geriatric population on the 21st of October 2017 at Bosco hall, St Andrew’s Church, Bandra.

We began our day with everyone having delicious breakfast which was kindly arranged by the AYM. A quick brain mapping session was then given to the volunteers in view of good efficiency of work at the camp. We decided to have different stations such as the history taking station followed by BP, Height and weisght station.

This was followed by the dental and physiotherapy check up. They then went for the BSL and Hb test and finished with the General body check up. If they had any serious problems, they were referred to the specialist. We had 95 senior citizens who attended our camp.

The camp was very well appreciated and commended by AYM President Mary LouD’souza and FrAllwyn Nazareth, who requested for a yearly follow up camp as well. The professionalism and effective work of the RCC members was also appreciated so much so that an article about the camp was  published in the monthly magazine ‘Andrean Notes’ for the month of October.
