Medical ethics must be understood as an applied professional concept that is separate from the concept of avoiding doing harm to patients. Part of this understanding is acknowledging that health and medical professionals are confident that medical ethics, offers a valuable framework in which to define the norms for medical care.

Thus,understanding that medical ethics is concerned with promoting health and medicine and clarifying norms for improving relationships between patients and physicians our directors organized Ascension Step Above 2.0.

It was held at Seth G S Medical College and KEM hospital, Parel on the 9th and the 10th of March from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. We had 200 prospering medicos who attended this event.

The orationwas led by Dr. Digant Amte, Dr. Vihang Vahia, Dr. Satendra Singh. We also had a Panel discussion on the topic ” Withdrawal of medical treatment and advanced directives” which has to be the highlight of the event.

There was a session on  performance poetry by Dr. Tushar Shah. We had also organized for workshops on:-

• Art of history taking and clinical examination ( for MBBS )

• Art of history taking and clinical examination ( for PT and OT)

• Effective communication and professionalism

• Narrative medicine

All the participants were delighted to learn lessons beyond their syllabus and are interested in attending more such events. We received a lot of appreciation from all our participants, and we as a club look forward in organizing such events more often and make it better each time.
